Hafed Al Ghwell

Hafed Al-Ghwell is Senior Advisor at Maxwell Stamp Inc, the international economic firm, where he specializes in Middle East political economy issues and leads the global strategic communications practice. He is also Senior Advisor with Oxford Analytica, the global risk consultancy. Hafed also served from January 2015 to January 2016 as Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Hariri Center for the Middle East in Washington DC.
Hafed is a veteran commentator on the political economy of the Middle East and North Africa. His analyses are widely published in international media, including ABC News, BBC, DW, Al- Jazeera English and Arabic Channels, NPR, PBS Front Line and NewsHour, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, CCTV, RT, Washington Times, UPI, Newsweek, the National Newspaper, Gulf News, Washington Diplomat, among many others.
Hafed served as Advisor to the Dean of the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group until end of 2015. From 2009 to March 2012, he was an Advisor in the Office of the Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa and Program Coordinator in the Office of the Vice President of UN and External Affairs, also at the World Bank.
Hafed was Director of External Affairs and Communication at the Dubai School of Government, and part of the senior management team, from 2007 to 2009. He joined the Dubai School of Government, a partnership with the Harvard Kennedy School of government for the Arab World and now known as Mohamed Bin Rashid School of Government, on a secondment from his position as the Head of the Global network of Public Diplomacy, Information, and Communication Centers for the World Bank
Prior to that, Hafed served as a Principle Associate at Foreign Reports, the venerable advisory group on the politics of oil in Washington DC.
Hafed holds a BA In Economics from the George Washington University, Harvard University's Postgraduate Executive Certificate in Leadership, and a Postgraduate Executive Certificate from Stanford University in strategic communication, media and publishing.
